My life got busy

It’s been a while …

A week after my last video I got down with a fever and because my last recorded videos which I hadn’t edited yet turned out to be un-usable … well, I just couldn’t make any videos because of that. Many things have happened in the last couple of months and many more things will be happening in the near future. Stress has taken a very big toll on my body as well, making me less motivated to do anything as every movement is hurting and a struggle.

I got the virus

After my last video I got infected with the virus, so did my wife and my son. I was fine after a couple of days, my wife never really got sick from it, however my son, who was under 1 year old at the time, was struggling, very quiet and mainly slept. Luckily he slept easily so his body had enough time to nicely recover from the whole experience. One thing to note, hospitals and clinics have off-days, and we were lucky enough that it was just a holiday when my kid got sick, we had nowhere to take him to … thank you Japan!

My work made me take my paid off days, at that time I did not know that we could actually get money from the insurance if we wouldn’t take the paid off days, so I lost early all my off-days because of that. I don’t blame my manager as he can’t be up to date with everything, but I do blame the company a little for it as it is their fault I got infected in the first place (long story for another time). Oh well, it happened and can’t be changed now.

We all drank and eat enough so we got better in no time, however my fever lasted for longer than I would have liked. After we got better we had other things to worry about.

Our wedding ceremony and my parents in Japan!

My parents were finally able to come here and we could finally have our wedding ceremony. We planned our whole wedding ceremony ourselves (was quite stressful and time consuming). So we still had parts of our wedding to plan and arrange whilst my parents were here. I mainly showed my parents around whilst my wife kept herself busy with the wedding stuff.

I say ‘we’ arranged the wedding, but really my wife did almost everything. She is still home because of maternity leave so she had enough time to do everything whilst my full-time job had resumed some months ago.

Work resumed

I had 1 week off for the wedding and my parents which came to Japan, after that, work continued like usual … a lot of people talking bad about me behind my back and my mood and motivation on a downward trend. Bad stuff just keeps happening at my work and it came to a point that I can’t trust anybody anymore.

Also all my classes have gotten way bigger and busier. Because I teach in an after school English school, I have different students every hour. Somehow I have all busy days whilst many other teachers only seem to have calm days most of the time. People which I work with say that that is because I am popular … I doubt that. But we are mainly teaching pre-school and elementary school and my nickname is 5 year old teacher hahaha.

I still enjoy doing my job, but combining this job with a baby makes me very tired and stressed at times. So far I actually once lost it and work and shouted. ^^” I didn’t know that I was soo close to my limit at the time.

The JLPT

I’m also taking the JLPT test this december which has been consuming a lot of my left over off-time. So time for joy was almost non-existent. I am glad that this period is almost over as the test will happen in some days. The JLPT N3 is the test I’ll be taking but I don’t feel very confident about it. :s

Conclusion

Although I am quite stressed and tired now, I am confident that it will all change soon and in some months I will loose a big burden as well (more on that later). Tired is probably the best way to describe my mood and energy level right now. But I’ll try to stay positive and get back to my genki self as soon as I can.

I’ll probably take the whole month of December off and start making videos again somewhere in January. I also still have to work on this site, so that’s probably what I will do in the meantime. 😉
