About

Voylin’s life

Hey guy’s, my name is Voylin. I was born and raised in Belgium. in 2020 I moved to Japan to marry my wife and to start my life here. My wife is Japanese and we got a one year old son. My hobbies are quite broad ranging from various different categories. Some of my hobbies are learning, making videos, traveling, hiking, camping, programming, fixing/making electronics, languages, gamedev, fixing/making furniture, teaching, … Basically a whole lot, so always something to do for me. ^^”

I started the Youtube channel, Voylin’s Life, in 2016 to share my travel experiences and advice at first, however I fell in love with Japan, and with someone in Japan, whilst traveling there which made me change the focus of this channel to me learning Japanese. Since I moved to Japan, three years ago, I also started sharing my life in Japan, and things about Japan.

My Youtube channel

My Youtube channel nowadays is more focused around my personal life because, as of 2023, I became a house husband or a stay at home dad or 主夫 or however you want to call it. ^^”

Follow my life as a 主夫 and see how I manage to work from home whilst raising a kid and doing all the house work. It’s very busy at times, and there are no paid off holidays … basically I have no holidays and my salary for doing this work is basically 0 … but it’s still much better than my previous job! ^o^/

Videos in Japanese?

In 2023, at the same time that I left my job and became a 主夫, I decided that it’s time for a change, my channel is called Voylin’s Life, however I had been making too many Japanese language videos that my channel kind of turned into a Japanese language teaching channel I guess. So I started a second channel called Voylin Sensei to upload those videos there.

The main reason why my recent and future videos on my main channel will be in Japanese is because I really need to work on my Japanese and by having to use it for my videos and all other parts of my life will be the quickest way for me to learn the language. My Japanese still isn’t great, but if I don’t start using it more, it never will be great.

FAQ

Why live in Japan?

I visited Japan back in 2016 and fell in love, with both the country and with my now wife. As Belgium isn’t the easiest country to live we decided to live in Japan instead as we had the most possibilities of a good life here.

How is being a 主夫(House husband)?

So far it’s my dream job, I really enjoy hiking and such, but I also really like being at home and cleaning. So I can clean whilst taking care of my kid and in the spare time I have I work on this blog or my youtube channels. I still study Japanese of course. Overall, I really recommend it.

Voylin Sensei?

Probably not the best name, but I wanted to communicate clearly with my subscribers that I still make Japanese language learning videos, but that it now happens on a different channel. Voylin Sensei will have all kinds of shorts and videos to help people decide which materials to use and help people with learning Japanese.

How about your health?

My health has not been the best and that is very noticeable if you look at the giant gaps that I had in posting videos. Ever since I moved to Japan and did my English teaching job.

My teaching job caused me a lot of stress until the point I had frequent panic attacks out of nowhere, till the point that I could not enter the classrooms anymore or I felt that I was underwater. Ever since I left that job, I’ve been feeling more healthy, energetic and overall more productive.
